Introduction

영국 국교회 앤섬은 "마르틴 루터"의 코랄, "칼뱅"의 제네바 살터와 함께 종교개혁이라는 산통 끝에 탄생한 새로운 장르이다. 초기에는 가톨릭 전례와 같은 무반주 합창으로 부르는 풀 앤섬이었지만 나중에는 독창이 첨가된 버스 앤섬이 주도권을 잡았다 바로 여기에 1600년부터 1640년대까지 "불", "버드", "기본스", "톰킨스" 같은 거장들이 작곡한 버스 앤섬이 수록되어 있다. 비올 합주와 오르간 반주가 붙은 독창과 합창의 찬란한 음향이 빛난다.
